Flowers have always a crucial role in spirituality. But did you know that essences derived from the blossoms of fruits and vegetables can awaken spiritual energy? "Look at the flower with critical insight. How could the flower evolve unless there were intelligence there?" Paramahansa Yogananda had said.
Flower essence therapies such as Bach Flower are popular in the West, but the concept is new in India. Ananda Sangha, the spiritual organization that propagates Yogananda's philosophy, is organizing seminars in Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida and Mumbai, to create awareness about flower essences. The aim is to create a network of natural healers who can use these essences in their healing practice. The seminar, Flower Essences for Inner Well-being, with Ananda Acharyas Deborah and Claudio Gregorelli, was conducted at Gurgaon earlier this year.
Yogananda taught that some foods like fruits, vegetables, and nuts enhance specific spiritual and psychological qualities. It is difficult to eat large quantities of these foods to benefit from their essential quality. In 1977, Yogananda's devotee Lila Devi Stone created 20 flower essences from the blossoms of these foods. Yogananda's Spirit-in-Nature Essences are made by infusing the essential quality and energy of a flower into pure spring water, using sunlight as a catalyst.
The essences are taken orally, and contain in concentrated form, the pure energy of that plant. Take two or three drops under the tongue or diluted in water, four times daily, not with meals but 10 minutes before, or one hour after. The essences can be used topically on the wrists. When taken singly or in a series while repeating the corresponding affirmations, most people report the beginning of a positive change within the first three days.
